According to a study by the global research company Ipsos. One in five people around the world with Internet access “frequently” work online instead of in an office.
The study found that not only is online work becoming increasingly popular, it is also linked to reducing stress, improving work-life balance, keeping talented women in the workplace, and improving productivity!
But the question is, How cheap is the infrastructure they are using to access information and to do work online? Many Government of the world have not subsidized Internet enough to their citizens. Many African countries are the most affected by this problem.
Ever since I entered college I have always found myself surfing either in a cyber cafe, at home or even through my handset, in the name of accessing information. If I can count every penny I’ve ever used to pay for Internet, I think it is an amount I can use to pay school fees or so. What I’m I trying to say?>>>> The cost of this service is exorbitantly very high!
The arrival of fiber optic cables to many countries have not solved this case anyway. But If only the governments have a clue of how many opportunities are there online, they could subsidize this crucial infrastructure like any other and reduce the high rate of unemployment in their countries especially in Africa. University students can tell you that…….
What role can we play to sensitize our Governments to put more efforts in subsidizing Internet?
